Nova Blanche Forman Elementary

Some relationships are meant to last forever. So thought, Chuck McCanna, principal at Nova Blanche Forman Elementary School in Davie.

After recently completing a 48,000 SF reroofing project at his Elementary School, Mr. McCanna contacted Advanced Roofing, Inc. for a possible charitable contribution. So pleased with the quality and craftsmanship that he had received on the roofing project, he asked Advanced Roofing, Inc. for assistance in completing the initial preparation phase of what would soon become a collaged mosaic mural on an exterior wall of his school.

Without hesitation, Advanced Roofing, Inc. stepped up to the plate! The company volunteered all of the labor and donated the necessary materials in order to prepare the empty wall and transform it to become a permanent work of public art in the Town of Davie. Originally, the wall consisted of block stucco and had many layers of exterior paint, making it difficult for the mural materials to adhere.

From beginning to end, preparation time took approximately twenty-six man hours and was completed during the weekend. The two-man crew diligently performed an extensive sandblasting process, while standing on top of a six-foot scaffold. The process also included them dressing in full body protective suites, while wearing face respirators and head protection. They removed the existing paint and loose patchwork using a carefully controlled stream of approximately three to four thousand pounds of sand that was propelled against the existing surface. This process created a smooth workable surface in order for the staff and students at Nova Blanche Forman Elementary School to begin to create their beautiful mural depicting the ecology of South Florida’s coastal community. The project included the usage of recyclable materials to create this ecological awareness through its images.

Mr. McCanna noted ‘…through Advanced Roofing’s donation of time and manpower, it allowed them to ensure project completion on time.’ Another community project Advanced Roofing, Inc. has completed through its donation of manpower and materials to help create a lasting impression in the Town of Davie!
